Mark 12:30  :  “And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength”

The Heart of You

The Invisible You

When you look in the mirror what do you see? There is more to you than than just your physical form. There’s an unseen aura surrounding you that transmits your innermost thoughts and feelings into the atmosphere.

The real You exists at the core of your innermost person. Your-Self is composed of your mind, emotions and decisions. Your-Self is all wrapped up in that life-force organ called heart. While the physical heart pumps life-giving blood throughout the entire body, it keeps your physical flesh alive. Likewise, your incorporeal heart keeps your soul alive by pumping immortal life throughout your spiritual being.

Although invisible, your feelings, reasonings, and opinions underpin the journalart2
foundation of your core. They reveal the very essence of who you are.  Imagine yourself as three layers. The outer layer is the flesh, skin, and organs. Peel that layer back and you reach an invisible form. Trace an imaginary outline around all your invisible STUFF. Everything within this
container is your soul. This is where your thinking, feelings, and beliefs reside.

Now erase the outline and replace it with your spirit. The spirit is like the outline except it’s invisible. It holds together your soul. The spirit can also be thought of as your invisible heart. It’s the unseen component of your physical blood that reaches to every inch of your  being. And it’s your spirit  that connects with the Holy Spirit of the Father in heaven.

John 4:24 :  God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

It’s exciting to comprehend that we meet God here in this intangible world of thinking, speaking, motives, attitudes and beliefs. All these immaterial forms are an extension of the activity going on inside your inner personality. Your inward life reflects from your eyes like a mirror to your soul and becomes tangible by the words and actions you display through your body.

Your expressions, attitudes, and gestures animate your flesh and identify who you are in this world. These invisible attributes engage others in interactions and demonstrate the character of Your-Self.  In this regard, you are similar to God. He also exists in the invisible realm; and you know Jesus Christ (who is God) when experiencing His thoughts and attitudes. By interacting with the Word of God in your life, you get to understand the LORD’s character.  (Reference my book)

So when you look in the mirror and wash your face and comb your hair, remember to look into the window of your heart and give it some self-care too.

Self Care

Who is my-Self? She’s the inner person who inhabits my body. Humans are  two-parts invisible (soul and spirit), and one part visible (flesh).  That’s why self care is more than a mani-pedi. Each morning when you wash your face and brush your teeth, look into the eyes of your soul and ask, “What does my-Self need for today?”

For me, self care is rooted in Jesus Christ. Taking care of my-Self depends on following a God that loves me. The Sunday School song says:-

“Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.”

Jesus loves me, My-Self, and I. And because He loves all three parts of me, I have enough love to give my neighbors.

Mark 12:31  :  You shall love your neighbor as yourself”

To obey this command from Jesus Christ, My-Self needs spiritual food from heaven above, even more than my body needs physical food. God’s word feeds two parts of my whole. It works from the inside out benefitting my entire Self. Good Living@the-Throne-of-Grace focuses on the Holy Scriptures to minister to the invisible part of you. Begin each day with a shower in the wonder of His Word. I can’t imagine a life without the Savior of my soul who teaches me to love my-Self.

Plato said “The first and best victory is to conquer self.”

That’s what this website is about, conquering your real self and taking it captive to the will of God–daily.

Spend some time in this place absorbing knowledge designed to transform your mind and change your mental model. Assimilate this wisdom to help you develop new habits. It’s a community of like-minded supporters who remind you to love your-Self. Loving your-Self includes maintaining dietary control.

By listening to the experts (people who are successful in maintaining a healthy weight), you begin to imagine yourself following these best practices. Your new found thoughts and visions enable you to cast off your old diet philosophy in favor of God’s best philosophy.

When you comb your hair each morning, pause and reflect upon the upkeep of your soul.  Pour the oil of  gladness upon your heart. Bathe your spirit with His Words of blessing for health and prosperity through eating. It will become real in your life as you behold the Savior of the World in your mirror and become transformed into His image. AMEN.

2 Corinthians 3:18 : But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
