Make a Date to Fast
Spiritual fasting is a choice. You must make a decision to break out of your normal routine in order to draw closer to God.
Whenever a believer chooses to begin a spiritual fast for one day or for several days, he or she determines to seek Almighty God in heaven. Armed with a selected scripture and a definite issue to pray about, the Holy Spirit takes the specific Word of God upon which you are praying and meditating to the Throne of Grace.

Fasting and praying God’s word opens spiritual vision. Visualize Jesus as the resurrected Son of Man lifted high above at God’s throne. He is active as our High Priest, interceding for us in the heavenly realm. His ONE sacrifice emanates a continual fragrance.
Even now Christ’s inward parts offer incense eternally as a pleasing aroma before the presence of the LORD. Imagine your spirit hidden with Christ in heaven today as He offers the incense of your prayers to the Holy One.
This enables your soul to hear the LORD more clearly.
Humble yourself by denying the body its food and desires. This weakens the flesh and strengthens your inner man when prayers are combined with the Holy Scriptures. This kind of worship exercises the fruit of self-discipline and connects believers with Lord Jesus Christ. Setting aside time to abstain from eating subdues the belly and brings your natural urges into submission to your will. This enables your soul to hear the LORD more clearly.
Taking your thoughts captive to the LORD’s way of thinking helps you see His will on every issue confronting you. Fasting will bring you closer to the Father when you pray His word into any situation.
If you’re worried about the best scripture to focus upon, relax; that’s the Holy Spirit’s job. The Bible promises that God’s Spirit will guide you into all understanding. Your part is to take control over your flesh. Don’t stop the fast until you hear from God on the matter. Fasting shows LORD God that you only want His input on the issue. It shows Him that you are prepared to obey His still small voice that speaks to your spirit from within yourself. His will can be heard only when you lay down your will and your soul remains silent and listening.
Fasting shows LORD God that you only want His input on the matter.
Fasting is not a requirement, but it was a habit practiced regularly in biblical times. Powering along in your own strength, like the young lumberjack in the parable, keeps you cutting with a dull blade.
There is so much God wants to accomplish in the world through you, but first you must sharpen your spiritual ax.
I would rather get more done operating under the guidance of the Holy Spirit than barreling along in my own knowledge. Fasting gives me God’s edge, while prayer pours out His power into my life. I can do far more than I could possibly accomplish in my own strength with my limited understanding.

So let’s get started! The great ‘I AM’ waits for you to escalate to the next level your relationship with Him. Do you enjoy walking in the Spirit and being in God’s presence? Are you willing to say “YES!” to a better habit and an exciting new routine? Make a date with your Father in heaven. He wants to speak to you. Click this link and keep reading.
