Philippians 2:5 : Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Last night I worshipped the Lord and it prevented me from over eating. I celebrated the feast of unleavened bread (Bible Study) where I say NO to the sin of gluttony. For 7 days, I will say NO to all leavened bread. Leaven is a symbol of sin. You must be holy to come into God’s presence. To launch my ministry I must conquer my gluttonous tendency. I must take my mind off my flesh and consciously think about my victory. If I do not conquer this sin, it will destroy my ministry.

And what is my ministry? To speak to those struggling with eating. As I celebrate the feast of unleavened bread, I cooked dinner and stopped the slow rot of bought but neglected vegetables. Instead of slovenly slouching in front of the television, I meditated on the feast and cooked the vegetables in a delicious cod pie (link to recipe) without starch.

So what did I eat?

  • My Flesh: I had two celery sticks with a tablespoon of hummus. I ate some cod pie when it was done. These were delicious substitutes to bread, butter, and jam.
  • My Soul: I listened to my five-fold ministry leader (Bible Study), Benny Hinn.

And it worked. Keeping my mind on Christ, letting His mind consume me, celebrating the feast of unleavened bread, I am allowing the Holy Spirit to pray for me. He is renewing my mind and revealing Christ to me for this situation. This is Day 1 of a resurrected idea. I am burying the old idea to allow the birth of the new way of thinking. I am putting the LORD at the center of my worship of food.

I will keep journaling my thoughts.
