Not A Diet Fad
Diets are something people do for a period of time with the hope of getting in shape. Unfortunately, they don’t work in the long term. Most people gain all the weight back. To maintain a body size that reduces the risk of disease and sickness, eating like Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden is a pattern set by the Creator of heaven and earth. God gave mankind all the fruit and harvest of the fields. Eating these foods in abundance would be a great start towards an abundant lifestyle.
Eating for the good life is a mindset, and what we think impacts our food choices. We must be willing to change our minds about the way we are eating, as well as changing eating habits. Foods we may be able to enjoy at one stage of our life, may become unacceptable for our metabolism as we get older. These very foods become the source of health issues that have been building up over time.
Eating for the good life is a mindset
We can have all things in moderation. We are not going to deny ourselves anything but will cut back on carbohydrates. For instance, if you eat a whole bowl of spaghetti, cut it in half. Do this for a few weeks or a month. Then move to cutting back on sweets or sodas. This way, we do it gradually. The goal is to condition the stomach and mind. The mind knows the old way. We want to renew it. Consuming half my usual portions for a period of time, sends a message to my stomach; and my belly gets it! It realizes there has been a reduction of food. Then one day, Boom! Everything is working.
Let’s be wise and eat God’s way.
If you diet the way the world diets, all the bad habits return when you revert back to your usual eating habit. Starve yourself of something, and human nature will cling to it even more. It’s the natural order of things. The best way to begin a life time change in eating habits is to eat half of your usual portions. Then gradually reduce your portion size each week: smaller, and smaller, and smaller. Before you know it, your gut shrinks. You get to the point where even a quarter of the original size of your spaghetti seems too much.
This is God’s way. All things in moderation. Ask the LORD to help you. Keep reading here at Throne of Grace.

Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. ~ Philippians 4:5-6
