Promises about Zion’s future are not just about Middle Eastern real estate; they’re about God’s commitment to dwell with His people forever.

Zion invites you to see beyond geography to theology
—from a regional location—
to God’s purpose for humanity,
—from history to eternity.

The “New Jerusalem” descending from heaven in Revelation 21-22 fulfills every Zion promise of God dwelling with humanity, wiping away tears, making all things new.

1  Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had passed away, and the sea was no longer there.

2 Also I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.

3 I heard a loud voice from the throne say, “See! God’s dwelling (His tabernacle) is with mankind, and God Himself shall be among them.
    He shall be their God,
and He will live with them. They will be his people, and He Himself, will be their God.

4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will no longer be any death; and there will no longer be any mourning, crying or pain; because the old order has passed away.”

The Kingdom of Heaven

There are scriptures that support a new heaven and a new earth. And many people spend their time trying to predict when this “new Jerusalem” will appear.

Why spin your wheels deciphering predictions from would be prophets? While Yeshua was “Immanuel”, “God with us” here on earth, He taught that the Kingdom of God was at hand. It was near.

The Kingdom of heaven began each time someone repented and believed in the work of the Messiah (Matthew 4:17).

Repentance

In the book of Isaiah, he warns the people of Judah that they will be judged by the LORD. He prophesied that if they do not turn away from disobedience and towards God’s holy mountain, they would be defeated by foreign gods.

The Mountain of God

What is God’s mountain? The Mountain of God is Mount Zion. It is the place where there is spiritual purity. The evidence of this purity is goodness. One must see the character of a moral God.

This meant climbing up out of the pit of base morality. It meant reaching new heights of beauty and strength. It meant embracing light and removing the darkness.

Psalm 48
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised
In the city of our God,
In His holy mountain.

2 Beautiful in height
The joy of the whole earth,
Is Mount Zion;
the innermost parts
of the mountain peaks,
the North Wind of the summit—
is the city of the great King.

3 God is in her palaces;
He is known as her refuge.

Could God’s judgment be avoided?

YES ! To avoid disaster, the people need only repent. To repent is more than saying you’re sorry. Repentance involves a behavior change. A person must stop doing bad things and do the will of a moral God.

In Isaiah 52 verse 11 the prophet calls the nation to repentance. Isaiah cried out to them:

“Leave! Get out from there!
Touch nothing unclean.”

Get out from where? Slavery to sin, bad behavior, and death to the Father in heaven !

What is unclean? Unclean is any thoughts, words or ideas that dishonors God’s goodness.

The prophet is saying, “Leave all thoughts and deeds that defile the purity of a holy God. If they did this, God’s mercy would flow down like rain.

Isaiah implored the people of Judah to embrace the more excellent life. Who better to give guidance on how to live a good life than the words of the Creator of the Universe?

Then the prophet commanded them from Isaiah 52:11:

Be clean!

Purify yourselves!”

Why? “Because you lift up the vessels of the LORD.”

Vessels were containers made from clay. In biblical times they contained water and wine, amongst other things. Genesis 2:7 tells us that God made humans from the dust of the ground.

These vessels sometimes served as metaphors for human flesh in biblical scriptures. Vessels carried the wine of the new covenant everywhere they went (Luke 22:20; Matthew 26:28).

20 Yeshua took the cup after the meal, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you.

These human vessels lifted up the water of the Holy Spirit to bless all who heard and obeyed God’s word.

Believers today bear the responsibility of bringing Zion into the lives of the people they encounter each day. Their vessels of flesh bring the word of God onto the earth. Consider yourself a spirit bearing vessel.

Humans are cracked pots
made of earth and clay
—but they have a beautiful treasure contained within
—in order that the transcendent

character of this power
will be clearly seen as coming

from God and not from us.
~2 Corinthians 4:7

Zion Today

The prophet Isaiah speaks to the souls of believers today. He exhorts them to: Separate from darkness! He implores them to: “Depart from evil!” His advises them to: “Flee from unclean thoughts!” Why?

Because they are Zion on earth and their bodies represent “vessels of the LORD.” The souls of those who believe in Yeshua are Zion today. Why?

Who is Zion
(read more)

  • Salvation comes from Zion !
  • Yeshua is Salvation ! Yeshua is Zion !
  • Yeshua dwells on earth in the bodies (vessels) of those who obey His will.
  • Yeshua is that North Wind dwelling in the midst of every believer.

Believers are the dust used by God. They are witnesses of lives lived in the blessings of salvation (as desired by the Torah). Joy should overflow through their praises to Yeshua, and from their good deeds.

Believers are Zion; God’s servants on earth. They help bring people to the knowledge of the LORD—by their kindness and mercy, seasoned with justice.

Zion is the souls of believers overcoming evil each day.

(Revelation 21:6-7)
I will see to it that the thirsty drink freely
from the fountain of the water of life.
To the overcomers will go this inheritance:
I will be their God, and they will be My children.

It is the inner life of human thoughts and emotions that lift up the soul. These thoughts live in human earthly vessels of clay.

2 Corinthians 4:7 tell us:

8 We are cracked and chipped from our afflictions on all sides,
but we are not crushed by them.
We are bewildered at times,
but we do not give in to despair.
9 We are persecuted, but we have not been abandoned.
We have been knocked down, but we are not destroyed.

If believers are to be overcomers, the vessels of their bodies must: “Be Clean!” —in thoughts, words and deeds. When this happens, the kingdom of Heaven is brought down to earth.

The Old Testament prophet, Jeremiah, prophesied the new covenant. In this new covenant God’s law of goodness would be written on the hearts of the human race.

Jeremiah 31:33-34
33But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

When Yeshua came to earth and died on the cross for the removal of sin and death, His precious blood ratified the new covenant.

Ephesians 2

11 So never forget how you used to be. Those of you born as outsiders to Israel were outcasts, branded “the uncircumcised” by those who bore the sign of the covenant in their flesh, a sign made with human hands.

12 You had absolutely no connection to the Anointed; you were strangers, separated from God’s people. You were aliens to the covenant they had with God; you were hopelessly stranded without God in a fractured world.

13 But now, because of Jesus the Anointed and His sacrifice, all of that has changed. God gathered you who were so far away and brought you near to Him by the precious blood of the Anointed, our Liberating King.

Yeshua’s life, death, burial, and resurrection meant that animal burnt offerings were no longer required. He was The promised deliverer, the Anointed One sent from heaven by God, His Father.

The sacrifice of innocent life became obsolete because the innocent, unblemished life of the Son of God, Yeshua, was the “once for all” offering. He was the “terumah”—the willing sacrifice that would remove sin and death.

The kingdom of God comes when believers live their lives in the Will of God.

No longer are they sons of Adam who miss the mark of God’s word. They are adopted as sons of God into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Galatians 4:4-7
4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.

6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” 7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Messiah.

When someone is baptized into the Holy Spirit, they give their YES to God’s Will. God has already done His part. He blew His image into our bodies of flesh. When believers are born again, their lives should shine as examples of holiness on earth. Their physical bodies are the vessels housing souls who resemble the image of the LORD, the one who blew life into their shells of dust.

The breath of the Creator implants their soul. God’s breath holds His image. Created in His image, human souls innately know the morality and attributes (sefirot) of the LORD their Maker.

Thus the Kingdom of God is wherever God’s presence is on earth; and the LORD is wherever believers place their feet. the Angel of the Lord said to Joshua,

“I have given you every place where the sole of your foot will tread.” Joshua 1:3

Zion: God’s Eternal Reign

Eternity includes past-present-future. The future becomes the present when you believe, trust and have faith in the finished work of the Messiah, and ACT on it with deeds.

Eternity on earth happens today, whenever His covenant people do the Messiah’s will in their personal circumstances. Imagine yourself as the ‘New Jerusalem’ coming down from heaven every time you bring the word of God into a situation.

Zion is wherever God’s covenant people are. The Temple of God is the Jerusalem of your flesh, not a building of brick and mortar in Israel. And your Soul is your heart of Zion–-when you obey God’s word.

YOU become the Faithful City of Zion. YOU become heaven on earth.
