Yeshua Is Messiah
The Messiah Is Salvation
‘The concept of a promise of a ‘Coming Deliverer’ can be traced vividly through the Holy Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation. It is this promise that integrates and holds together both the Old and New Covenants.
The promise of a coming One (the one most often referred to by both Jews and Christians as the “Messiah”), is the center of the entire Biblical revelation. This theme– or that Person– is who the prophet Isaiah symbolized. In fact the word Isaiah in Hebrew means “salvation”.
And most certainly the central theme
of the Bible is salvation,
and that person is Yeshua (Jesus),
who is the Son of God.
The Line of David
The Hebrew Holy Scriptures prophesy of a Messiah who would come from the line of David. Rabbinic writings refer to 456 separate OT passages used to refer to the Messiah and messianic times (Varner, p. 7).
When he was only a boy, God anointed the faithful shepherd, David, as king of Israel. God chose David because he was a man after God’s own heart. The Messiah would be a descendant from David; He, too, would come from the heart of God.
Sadly, the succession of kings between David and the Messiah included men who did not have a heart for a holy God. They did not heed the voice of God’s conscience spoken through the LORD’s anointed prophets.
As each king succumbed to fear and corruption, their hearts continued to grow hard against a holy God. This put God’s covenant blessings in jeopardy. These blessings were promised to the patriarchs of obedience to God’s holy word, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Prophets Speak
By the eighth century BC, the Hebrew prophets had turned much of their attention away from the kings as they prophesied directly to the people. The prophets reminded everyone about the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
They began calling the people to a renewed faithfulness to the covenant of spiritual blessings.

Defenders of the Covenant
As the monarchy period progressed, the prophets, acted as defenders of the covenant. They proclaimed the covenant violations of the king and the people. They declared warnings that the covenant curses were about to be enacted.
Their messages gradually began to include indications that Samaria (Northern Israel) or Jerusalem (Judea) would be destroyed, and the people would be taken captive as enemies conquered and overran the land.
God Will Send His Son – The Messiah
Into this backdrop Isaiah, whose name means: “Yahweh is salvation, is born.
He is the son of Amoz and grandson of Zerubbabel. Isaiah has the same name as the prophesied messiah, and even his personal life served as a witness to the words from God.
Isaiah had two sons with a wife called “the prophetess” and each son’s name represented prophetic signs. His life and family represented the messiah. He was a type of “Christ”, an “Anointed One.”
